LP Community Works started because nobody handed me anything when I walked into my first board meeting. No training, no guide, no heads up about why the same three people were always furious. I figured it out as I went and eventually turned that into something useful for the people coming up behind me.
The articles are my voice. But they go through a process. They get cleaned up, made safe for work, stripped of anything that might make someone uncomfortable. That's appropriate. That's what they're for.
This is not that.
Field Notes is my stream of consciousness. It's the unfiltered version of what it actually feels like to volunteer your time, your energy and occasionally your sanity for something you genuinely believe in. The unpleasant parts. The occasionally pleasant parts. All of it raw and from personal experience and honestly a little therapeutic for me to write.
There are no best practices here. No reading between the lines of whatever rules binder you may or may not have received. That's what the articles are for. This is just me.
Enter at your own risk.
The articles are still good. The tools are still helpful. The swag is still dope. And this is just the part where I get to be honest about the rest of it.
