My Virtual Meeting Set-Up (and What Keeps Me Sane)

Virtual meetings have their place. I've made my peace with them. Mostly.

The shirt. Am I in a mood when I wear this? Likely. Do I consider it fair warning? Absolutely. It casually communicates "I committed to two hours and not a minute longer. Any motion to extend will be voted down."

The cups. All three of them, yes. Iced protein coffee for Saturday morning calls. Tea for afternoon calls. And hydration is non-negotiable regardless. If I'm going to be on camera I may as well have nice things in the frame.

The multi-charger. I have stuff. Phone, laptop, maybe a tablet for notes. Everything needs to be ready before the first agenda item or we're already behind.

Sunflower seeds and a banana. For some reason the crack of a sunflower seed calms my nerves. Don't ask me to explain it. 😬 And banana because health.

Method Over Madness. Handy reference for following the rules, including when and how to activate a Point of Order. Which, depending on the meeting, could be early and often.

A fidget toy. Because rolling your eyes is frowned upon.

The slippers. What is happening on the lower half of my body is no one's business. But I'm cute and comfortable and that's what matters.

Show up. Be present. Protect your energy. Always vote NO on a motion to extend.
